MPBase SIMCOAST MICROPLASTICS DATABASE MPBase

The consortium database of microplastic sampling events, samples, particles, spectra and polymer identifications from Narragansett Bay, its watershed and the Rhode Island coast — one place for field leads, lab analysts and data stewards at URI, RWU and RIC to enter, import, verify and share their data.

Field to lab

Sampling events, bulk and sub-samples, controls, processing steps and environmental conditions — with the sample code grammar enforced.

Per-particle records

Shape, colour, size, melt test, images, and every spectrum acquired, with verified polymer and additive calls.

Import with validation

Spreadsheets are checked row by row against the vocabularies before anything is committed, and every batch can be rolled back.

Share when ready

Datasets start restricted, open to the consortium when flagged, and can be published for everyone with citation and licence.
